Look, we know “bean-shaped” probably does not top the features wishlist for your dream pair of earbuds. But as Mashable tech reporter Alex Perry
Right now is a particularly opportune time to check out what that madness is. As of Oct. 26,
Other than the design, there are a few pretty good reasons you’d want to give these earbuds a second look. For starters, the 12mm speaker delivers a sound quality you won’t find on any old pair of earbuds. You can get even more into the audio with the Galaxy Buds app, which allows you to play around with the six different equalizer presets. Also found in the app: a battery-level indicator, an active noise cancellation toggle (we’ll get to this in a second), and customization options.
Now back to the bean-build of these buds, because it actually serves a purpose, and impacts that coveted ANC. Unlike many other earbuds, the entirety of this bean is meant to fit into the contours of your ear, with top wingtips making sure they stay firmly in place. And miraculously, by Alex Perry’s account, they do.
However, if you are resigned to the fact the earbud tips will never quite fit your ears, don’t run to get your wallet yet. Not having a snug silicone tip can actually render these headphones’ active noise cancellation less effective and can cause discomfort after some hours of use.
But if ANC and long-term wearability aren’t near the top of your earbuds wishlist, these buds deliver impressive sound, come in fun colors, and are easily customizable — all for about $68 less than the AirPods Pro were going for at the time of writing.
