Snapchat profiles are getting a full-body makeover.
Bitmojis have been a central feature of Snapchat profiles
Now, they’re becoming more prominent than ever. Beginning Monday, Snapchat users will be able to feature 3D, full-body versions of their Bitmoji avatars on their profiles. Previously, Bitmojis on profiles were just heads and shoulders inside those Snapcodes. With the new design, users can choose different poses, like peace signs or 3/4 turns, and backgrounds like colorful wall paper or city scenes. The newest accessory for the Bitmoji fit? Earrings.

The profile glow up is interesting, though, considering that Snapchat has long de-emphasized the role of profiles in the app. That’s been for the slightly philosophical reason that Snap wants users to communicate their authentic, in-the-moment selves, as opposed to the static and polished profile.

Business motivations aside, the new profile is cute. The full-body Bitmoji can be striding down a city street or busting a move on the dance floor. The multiple angles of the poses bring the lil’ avatars to life. And while Snap has had full-body Bitmojis (
The profile changes begin rolling out globally Monday. While you might not get the new look right away, you can get to your profile by clicking your Bitmoji in the top left corner of your screen. Then, scroll down to the “Bitmoji” section, where you can change your outfit, edit your Bitmoji, and even — of course — “Shop Bitmoji Merch.”
