Here's how you activate Super Alexa mode on your Amazon Alexa.

Super Alexa mode is the latest Alexa trick.

Super Alexa mode isn’t a fancy new Alexa update, but is an Easter egg that references the famous Konami code, a cheap code sequence that was popular on Konami video games.

Beyond being used for everyday tasks like providing traffic reports and streaming podcasts, Amazon’s voice-operated virtual personal assistant also has jokes programmed into it like super Alexa mode.

How to activate super Alexa mode:

Say “Alexa, up, up, down, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start.”

Alexa will respond “Super Alexa mode activated. Starting reactors, online. Enabling advanced systems, online. Raising dongers. Error. Dongers missing. Aborting.”

You have to say the activation code exactly correctly or Alexa will instead respond, “So close.”

The super mode activation code is the Konami code which is a famous cheat code in video games invented in the ’80s by Kazuhisa Hashimoto. The Konami code was first written into Gradius for Nintendo Entertainment System and it unlocked several power-ups. To activate it you would press pause and hit up, up, down, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start on your controller. It has now been featured in over 100 video games and is a common Easter egg in pop culture.

Now not only can you deploy super Alexa mode, but you can impress your friends with the history of the Konami code.
