Thanks for posting this article. It backs up what I have been teaching my students. I plan to share it with them! I use a Google Sheet I developed three years ago. I have a link to it on my phone so I can enter expenses as they happen. It works great and it’s free. I made copies for some of my students (I teach financial literacy courses) and most prefer it to Mint and YNAB.
IMHO I think many bigger software developers like Quicken and Intuit have lost touch with their customers. They keep raising prices and lowering the quality of their services. Intuit’s QuickBooks Online keeps getting worse too and instead of adding helpful features, they take away reports and features and charge more! They are going to be in for a shock as these decisions will move customers to less expensive and better software. There’s always another app available and more on the horizon. I’m in the process of moving my non-profit’s accounting from QBO to another software package because I have had enough of their shenangians!
