To celebrate the launch of its latest men’s offerings, Tiffany and Co touched down at Dover Street Market Los Angeles. While Tiffany and Co has created jewelry products for men before, it’s the first time the house has created a comprehensive men’s collection that includes everything from its well-known jewelry pieces to homeware and barware.
Officially titled Tiffany 1837 Makers, a reference to the year Tiffany and Co was founded, the collection is “based on jewelry but also extends to travel, leather goods, barware, games and much more,” Reed Krakoff, the label’s chief artistic officer, explains to Highsnobiety. Classics like cufflinks, money clips and I.D. bracelets are included in the offerings, alongside luggage and a chess set.
When asked by Highsnobiety why now was the time to launch a massive men’s collection, Krakoff says that “fashion has never felt like a bigger part of a man’s wardrobe. Men are wearing jewelry and definitely spending much more time on their personal appearance, so it felt like the right idea and the right time.”
His favorite piece from the collection is the Globetrotter luggage, which features branding derived from an original logo created for the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. In addition, Krakoff is a big fan of the Seguso sterling silver and handblown glass vases.
His personal hope is that the Makers signet ring becomes a modern day classic, a hope that coincides with his observations of the contemporary man: “I think that today most men have favorite pieces of jewelry that they wear all the time, things that become an everyday staple, like a signet ring, a I.D. bracelet or one of our Everyday Object pendants. I think men are interested in things that are worn every day, not just on special occasions. There are many pieces that can be worn so often, they really become part of your personality. They feel like you’ve had them for a long time and they simply are an expression of who you are.”
Like the house has been doing since the 19th century, nearly all pieces can be customized by Tiffany and Co’s hand-engraving team. The crystal pieces can be etched and the leather goods can be embossed.
Each piece from the collection is available at all Tiffany stores and on
