With Will Forte hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time and the recent launch of Forte’s MacGruber Peacock series, there was no question he’d be bringing back the SNL parody of MacGyver in one of his sketches.
That happened, and it came with an appropriately 2022 twist. The bumbling MacGruber has gone full MAGA hat since we last saw him, and he repeatedly fails to defuse a series of bombs because his anti-vaxxing, conspiracy-addled brain is too busy dealing with a COVID infection and obsessing over QAnon fear-mongering. It’s still MacGruber, but this time we’re really really rooting for him to get blown up.
