Forget Your ‘IGOR’ Wig, It Might Be Time for a New Tyler, the Creator Album Era
We might be in the midst of a new Tyler, the Creator era. Why do we think that? Two reasons: a billboard and a phone number.
Fans in Los Angeles recently spotted a billboard along Sunset Boulevard promoting the phone number 1-855-444-8888 with the words “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST” and bearing the Columbia Records logo — the record label Tyler is currently signed to.
When dialed, it plays a recording of the rapper’s mom declaring her love for her son over what sounds like new music. Over the woozy instrumental, Tyler’s mom claims “I’ll stand in front of a bullet, on God, over this one… I walked up on teachers, principals, mommas, kids, I don’t give a fuck. Am I lying?” A voice that sounds a lot like Tyler’s can be heard answering “You have no reason to,” and his mother continues to go off.
Tyler himself is yet to respond to the rumors of the new album. But for now, many fans are convinced their theories are correct. For one, his last album IGORdropped two years ago and his previous studio effort Flower Boy dropped two years prior to that. If we adhere to this pattern for releasing his albums, it’s about time for some new music.
Last month, Tyler was also announced as part of the lineup for next year’s Primavera Festival and as part of this year’s Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza bills, leading fans to speculate he will be promoting new music.
