Drake just made History. No, literally, Drizzy just launched a concert venue with Live Nation and it’s called “History.”

Following a disastrous year for the concert industry, many venues have had to shut their doors forever. But at some point this year, live music will return, and when it does, Drake will have a piece of that pie.

The rapper (and clever investor) together with Live Nation Canada will open History, a new live entertainment venue in his hometown of Toronto later this year – just in time for the post-covid debut of concert season. The venue will have a 2,500 person capacity and host 200 live shows and events annually.

“Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History,” the OVO boss recalled in an official statement. “I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”

Live Nation Entertainment’s president and CEO, Michael Rapino added: “We saw an opportunity to bring Toronto a great new venue. And we have so much gratitude and respect for Drake teaming up with us to bring it to life in the best way possible.”

History has been in development for over three years, with construction scheduled to be complete later this summer, yet the timing seems eerily perfect. The venue is situated in the east end of the city, in the heart of the Beaches neighborhood at 1663 Queen Street East. It features a convertible general admissions area and reserved seating configurations for all types of events – from concerts, live entertainment, and galas to community programs and events.

Concerts and events, along with additional details and career opportunities, will begin to be announced throughout the coming weeks and months.
