Audemars Piguet Announces Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie

Audemars Piguet has just announced its Supersonnerie variant of the classic Royal Oak wristwatch. While modern technology (electricity) has allowed for lighting long after the sun has gone down, these remarkable complications are still some of the most fascinating function you can find in a watch today. With a single slide up on the slide lever located between the 8 and the 9 o’clock position, time is told to the wearer in the form of sound — the gongs and chimes represent the hours and minutes; this function was especially important in pocket watches before the era of lume.

Audemars Piguet’s proprietary Supersonnerie technology utilizes chambered ports at the back of the case to help amplify the sounds from the watch. Powered by the AP caliber 2959, the watch features 72 hours of power reserve, a small seconds, and 20 meters of water resistance.

Limited to 20 pieces, the price of the Audemars Piguet Supersonnerie is currently available upon request.
