Back in December 2020, ASICS unveiled a GEL-LYTE III OG in “Baltic Jewel” inspired by the Daruma doll, and now another pair of the popular sneaker has appeared in “Classic Red/Black.”

Adopting a more commonly found colorway that replicates that of a Daruma doll, this sneaker combines smooth, premium “Classic Red” leather used for the majority of the upper’s base with an underlaying myriad of panels in perforated white leather, hitting the toe box and side panels, with more white highlighting the tongue lining and sole unit.

Elsewhere, we see patent black leather stripes on the mid-section making up ASICS’ signature branding, as well as touches of gold on the heel, lateral front-quarter, and around the black branding (in the same construction as the “Baltic Jewel” pair). ASICS is drawing inspiration from the traditional Japanese dolls that are modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen, or Ch’an Buddhism, and continues the theme with a hangtag. Although this is not seen in the images above, it can be expected to come with the sneaker like the previous pair displays.

Lastly, the tri-density midsole is finished with tonal branding, a red off-center stripe on the heel, and a black outsole. Take a look at the ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG “Classic Red/Black” Daruma doll sneaker above, and pick up a pair now from ASICS’ website for $120 USD.

In other footwear news, Dr. Martens has filed for an IPO.
