Phillip Lim combined his men’s and women’s collections for the first time in years for his SS20 show at New York Fashion Week. Fittingly, the show focused on the concept of duality, while showcasing elevated but easy-to-wear pieces with youthful tailoring and dynamic colors.

Exaggerated proportions were on full display, highlighted by the elongated women’s vest draped over the model’s shoulders like a scarf and a asymmetrical trench coat for men with black stripes and beige color blocking. The men’s prints were inspired by Rauschenberg’s Combines and old postcards from road travel to reveal beauty in hidden places quite literally.

Sustainability also released top billing, from organic and recycled fabrics to backstage, where sustainable hair and beauty products were used and single-use plastic was minimized.
